After-school programs operate 2pm – 6pm, and sometimes open earlier to accommodate minimum day schedules. During school closures such as summer/spring/winter breaks, after-school programs operate from 9am to 6pm on days that at least two students require full day services.
Please reach out to each program individually to check if spaces are available and what the enrollment process is. You can reach out via phone, email, or through the “Sign Up” buttons on our website. Please note that the enrollment process has multiple steps and a spot in program is not guaranteed until the Program Director accepts the student into the program and all required intake paperwork is received.
The after-school programs are generally funded by the Regional Center of the East Bay, but also accept private pay clients. Regional Center funding often varies month to month, and should a student attend in excess of their RCEB funding, some costs may be billed to the family. The Transition program is only available to BUSD (Berkeley Unified School District) students and is funded by BUSD.
After-school program serve students ages 6-22. Transition program serves students ages 18-22. Adult Community Training serves students ages 22+
Ala Costa Centers’ programs do not provide transportation services to/from programs. After-school programs: some school districts will transport students to our after-school programs, and some do not. You will need to check with your school district to see if transportation to the program you are interested is available. At the end of the day, families generally pick up their children from program. First Transit services may be an option, but will need to be arranged with your Case Manager at the Regional Center of the East Bay. Adult Programs: some students utilize ParaTransit services to get to and from program, some travel independently, and some get dropped off and picked up by family members. Each family is responsible for making sure that your student is certified to receive ParaTransit services – certification generally happens at ParaTransit offices. Families are responsible for scheduling their own ParaTransit rides.
